Fantasy and reality merge into one at OrbitFest, the futuristic winter light festival

Every year during the winter months, makers & hackers from the Northern Netherlands are called upon to take part in OrbitFest. The theme of the fifth edition, to be held on the 21st and 22nd of December 2019, will be ’Man The Player’ (‘De Spelende Mens’). Between 15:00-22:00 you can experience the Groningen of the future between with an expo of extraordinary lighting works along with experiments in the winter lab, presentations and workshops.

The festival story

The festival story serves as the basis for OrbitFest and acts as a source of inspiration for OrbitFest participants. Iki lives in Heliopolis, the Groningen of the future. Just like his fellow citizens, this young, ambitious adventurer is fascinated by the ancient Sun as well as brand new spaceships. Read the festival story >>
